In Case Vase, designed by Sara Ebert:

“The perforated ornamentation on the In Case Vase provides a secondary and potentially life-saving purpose. Were an intruder to attack, the vase can be smashed and turned against the aggressor. The pattern creates optimal shards to aid in your protection.”

Magnus Gjoen

Magnus Gjoen‘s prints examines how to change peoples relationship and preconceived notions of objects. Something which is potentially extremely destructive can be made into beautiful yet fragile objects of art. It’s this misconception of beauty which Magnus Gjoen wants us to see in a different light, being it weapons, animals or the human race itself. []

The Megaton. Massive Bomb Lamp

Written by Valentina on . Posted in design, stuff

bomblamp

“This lamp is made with the tail fins of a 100-lb bomb from the Korean War. Paint and corrosion are removed to expose gleaming steel, interrupted by rough machinists marks from the factory. The interior of the fins retains the original turquoise paint, for a subtle wink of color. Finished with a polished nickel socket, elegant cloth-wrapped cord, and a natural linen shade.” On sale here.
